Nocturne #7 – Ephemeral
What happens in that single second when the camera shutter clicks? It is a rebellion against time, an attempt to steal a moment before it vanishes forever. This is a story about how every photo turns into a wordless letter to the future—a testament that preserves not just a frame, but the feeling hidden in a father's eyes.
For me, one of the most psychedelic moments in photography is the moment the shutter clicks.
In that instant, when my finger touches the shutter, I’m not just taking a picture; I am tearing a fragment from reality and preserving it in eternity. It is an act of rebellion against disappearance. Whether we want to or not, we are all inherently creative creatures. We have received the greatest gift from nature: the ability to create something, to pause something, which leaves a trace and leaves behind memories that are static, that do not move or change their form. That date, that circumstance, and that atmosphere will never be repeated. And this is precisely the anatomy of that magical moment.
My brother says that you shouldn’t lose the best moments by looking through a lens, and I partially agree. But to be disconnected for a few seconds is worth it to me, to create something, to imprint history, to leave a trace. I think the opposite — I am seizing this beauty, stealing it from the river of time before it is swallowed forever.
And in the end, this act of clicking, this life within the frame of the lens for a few seconds, is truly worth the benefits it ultimately gives us. We must turn this shot into a companion for this best moment, because it is the confirmation of our existence for future generations.
You know, maybe these “future generations” aren’t such an abstract concept. Perhaps every “click” is a wordless letter I am writing to Ted (My son). I want that years from now, when he looks at this frozen moment, he sees not just his father, but feels the warmth, the joy, or even the silent sadness that was in my eyes back then. This shot is a testament to my feelings for him.
