What is Kostava Creative?
The Birth of Kostava Creative: How we transform traditional folklore into modern digital technology. Read about our mission, the brand story, and the ecosystem designed to stand alongside Native Instruments and Arturia.

Years ago, I made a promise to myself and to the public: the unique sonic signature of Georgia would find new life in the digital age. Then came a pause. A long, heavy, but necessary silence.
Today, that silence ends.
Many of you know me as an artist, a designer, or simply someone constantly in search of the new. But what I want to talk about today goes far beyond my personal ambitions. This is about Kostava Creative — a company founded by myself and my brother, John Kostava, with a singular goal: to build a world-class audio-visual ecosystem from Georgia.
Why “Kostava Creative”?
To be honest, we didn’t go through the long ‘brainstorming’ sessions described in branding textbooks. Joni and I share a strange, brotherly telepathy — we often make decisions without words, skipping the unnecessary philosophy. There were no debates, no alternative options, just a silent consensus. The name came the same way: instantly and unconditionally. It felt less like a choice and more like an inevitability.
Without any prior agreement, we share a silent truth: this name belongs to Merab Kostava — a man who didn’t just define an era, but turned his life into art. He was a musician, a poet, and a national hero who left an indelible mark on our history.
Why Kostava? At first glance, the answer is simple — it’s our surname. But for us, this name signifies much more than just a family signature.
Therefore, “Kostava Creative” is not just a business. It is a responsibility to carry this name with dignity. Our goal is for this brand to become a symbol of quality and uncompromising standards — in honor of Merab Kostava’s memory.

Why Start with Georgian Sounds?
For years, I’ve observed a paradox: we possess one of the richest musical folklores in the world, unique instruments, and polyphony, yet our voice is almost unheard in the global music industry.
Why shouldn’t Hollywood, European cinema, or top-chart producers have access to high-quality virtual versions of the Panduri, Chonguri, or Doli? Why should our culture remain only a museum exhibit and not a living instrument in the hands of a modern creator?
This is where Kostava Creative steps in.
We are not just “sample producers.” We are a technology company. My brother Joni — the mastermind and lead engineer of this project — brings high-level competence in code and system architecture. Combined with my audio-visual vision, this allows us to create a product that stands toe-to-toe with the standards of Native Instruments, Arturia, or Spitfire Audio. He is the engine that processes these ideas; I create the environment where these ideas resonate.
What Are We Doing Now?
Our first flagship product — Panduri v1.0 — is already in the final stages. Forget the stereotypes. This is not a “souvenir for tourists.” This is a professional instrument (VST3, AU, Standalone):

- Deep Sampling: Recorded in a custom-designed, ideal acoustic environment using legendary microphones.
- Humanize Engine: Special scripts ensuring the playing style is alive, not robotic.
- Creative FX: Built-in creative effects that breathe new life into traditional sounds, transforming folk tones into cinematic textures.
- Modern UI/UX: An interface that inspires you to create.
But this is just the beginning.
An Ecosystem, Not Just a Product
We are launching our platform soon. This won’t be just a place to buy a plugin. It will be a creative hub:
- Marketplace: High-quality virtual instruments, presets, and sample libraries.
- Education: Blogs, tutorials, and “behind the scenes” content — sharing how digital sound is crafted.
- Label: A space for unique and distinct artists. We won’t publish template music; this will be a label for experimental, ethnic, and cinematic works, including projects created with our own instruments.
- Community: A space for artists, developers, and music lovers.

Vision for the Future
My dream, which I mentioned in my Entrepreneur interview, remains unchanged: I want to hear the sound of a Georgian instrument in a Hans Zimmer soundtrack. Not as an exotic additive, but as a protagonist.
We intend to find instruments that many have forgotten even exist. This will be a grand audio expedition into the past, powered by the technology of the future.
Thank you to everyone who waited. To everyone who supported us.
The first step has been taken. Kostava Creative is going live.
